WHAT IS THE LENGTH OF THE CONTRACT?

Thoughtful currently offers a one-year option and a two-year option. The two-year option includes a three-month trial period: if for whatever reason you’re not happy with the partnership after the first three months, you have the option to leave the agreement without any legal ramifications or red tape (you just have to give us 15 days notice).

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO STAY IN GOOD STANDING WITH THOUGHTFUL?

While we do not have strict requirements on the type of content you upload, there are some simple rules to follow in order to stay in good standing with Thoughtful. Never steal content: if you upload someone else’s content, please do not monetize it and always make sure to mention your sources in the description box. Follow YouTube’s standards guidelines closely: never upload inappropriate content that may result in community strikes. Upload frequently enough to keep your audience engaged: Thoughtful does not require a strict upload schedule but we encourage you to keep one. If your audience doesn’t know when to expect new videos they will not stick around. Keep us posted if you plan to take time off from your uploading new content: your Talent Manager can work with you to smooth the transition so that you can pick back up easily when you return. Communicate with us frequently: we’re here help you, but it cannot be a one way street. In order for you to be successful, we suggest regularly setting aside some time to communicate with our team.

WHAT'S YOUR MINIMUM PARTNERSHIP ENTRY STANDARD?

While we do occasionally work with smaller/developing creators, we don’t usually work with creators who have very small monthly view counts. Our core aim is to work with creators who have a growing and highly interactive audience. In addition, we focus on channels that have a very high likelihood of working with brands. Our goal is to get our partnered channels lots of work. If the audience isn’t there or brands aren’t attracted, then we cannot be successful together.

AM I REQUIRED TO UPLOAD A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF VIDEOS PER WEEK OR PER MONTH? I HAVE A LOT OF OTHER COMMITMENTS OUTSIDE OF YOUTUBE, SO SOMETIMES MY UPLOADS FLUCTUATE. IS THERE FLEXIBILITY?

We totally understand that you have a life offline, so there’s no specific requirement for number of video uploads per month. We simply prefer that our channels stay active because fresh, frequent content is a great way to gain new subscribers. We’re ready to help you brainstorm ideas to keep your channel as current as possible but at the end of the day, you still have complete creative control.

DO CONTENT CREATORS HAVE A SAY ON WHICH BRANDS THEY ADVERTISE WITH?

The decision on which brands you will work with is entirely yours. We can offer advice and direction, but we’ll never pressure you to participate in a specific campaign.

DO WE HAVE CONTROL OVER WHERE ADS APPEAR?

Unfortunately no. While we do work to target your channel with advertising, we do not control 100% of the inventory. Any remaining ad placement inventory is handled by Google. The ads that appear are determined by how relevant your content is for an advertiser and how much inventory is available on your channel.

HOW DOES PAYMENT WORK? I LIVE OUTSIDE OF THE UNITED STATES, IS THAT A PROBLEM?

Payment is easy, even for international creators. Once you’re signed with us, the process is as follows: YouTube pays us, then we pay you via direct deposit to your bank, via PayPal account or by way of various regional solutions. For international creators, we highly recommend creating a PayPal account in order to avoid international banking and/or wire transfer fees.

I NEED HELP WITH THE APPEARANCE OF MY CHANNEL. DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT? WHAT ARE SOME OTHER THINGS THAT THOUGHTFUL CAN HELP ME WITH?

Our production department can work with you on the visual aspects of your channel. We can create banners, thumbnails, and logos, or help fine-tune your existing artwork. In addition to custom artwork, we can help you with brand outreach and ad targeting, collaboration concepts, video ideas, upload schedules, channel goals, and much more. There are no additional costs for normal use of our creative services team. In the event your channel needs additional work beyond normal use, please connect with your Talent Manager to discuss further.

WOULD I HAVE ACCESS TO A LIBRARY OF MUSIC THAT'S ROYALTY-FREE? OR, AT THE VERY LEAST, GUIDANCE ON WHERE TO FIND IT?

Influencers in our network have access to a database of royalty-free music.
